Abstract

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the effects of electric acupoint stimulation on gastrointestinal hormones and motility among geriatric postoperative patients with gastrointestinal tumors, and to explore an efficient and noninvasive method for postoperative recovery of bowel functions.

METHODS

Forty patients were randomly and evenly assigned into a regular nursing care group (RNC) and an acupoint electric stimulation group (AES). Patients in the RNC group received regular nursing care and patients in the AES group received regular nursing care plus electric stimulation of acupoints. The serum levels of gastrin (GAS), motilin (MOT), and cholecystokinin (CCK), and an electrogastrogram (EGG) of all the patients were evaluated on the first, third, and fifth day after surgery. The time to first flatus after surgery and the number of patients with side effects such as abdominal pain, abdominal distention, and diarrhea were recorded.

RESULTS

There were significant differences between the two groups in GAS, MOT, EGG, time to first flatus, abdominal pain, abdominal distention, and diarrhea (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSION

Electric stimulation on acupoints could increase levels of GAS and MOT, promote the recovery of gastrointestinal functions, and decrease complications among postoperative senile patients with gastrointestinal tumors.

目的

评估电穴位刺激对老年胃肠道肿瘤术后患者胃肠激素及胃肠动力的影响,探索一种高效、无创促进术后肠功能恢复的方法。

方法

40例患者随机均分为常规护理组(RNC)和穴位电刺激组(AES)。RNC组患者接受常规护理,AES组患者在常规护理基础上加用电穴位刺激。在术后第1天、第3天和第5天评估所有患者的血清胃泌素(GAS)、胃动素(MOT)和胆囊收缩素(CCK)水平以及胃电图(EGG)。记录术后首次排气时间以及出现腹痛、腹胀和腹泻等副作用的患者数量。

结果

两组在GAS、MOT、EGG、首次排气时间、腹痛、腹胀和腹泻方面存在显著差异(P < 0.05)。

结论

穴位电刺激可提高GAS和MOT水平,促进老年胃肠道肿瘤术后患者胃肠功能恢复,并减少并发症。
