Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a challenging health problem. The present study examined impact of self-care education through e-learning on improving kidney function among individuals with CKD.
The studied population consisted of CKD patients receiving care at 10 centers for treating noncommunicable diseases in Tehran. Three centers were randomly selected and 39 patients with a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2, minimum education of grade 9, minimum of 2 years of referrals, and computer literacy of the individual or a first-degree relative were included in the study, while 92 patients were assigned into the control group. Changes in GFR were compared after 6 months following an e-learning program for the patients in the intervention group.
The mean change in GFR was 7.5 ± 8.9 mL/min/1.73 m2 for the intervention group after the e-learning intervention, while this was -2.3 ± 8.5 mL/min/1.73 m2. The two groups were also significantly different in terms of age, marital status, education level, mean arterial pressure, and serum high-density lipoprotein level, and therefore, multivariable comparison of GFR was made incorporating these factor into the analysis and showed a significant improvement of GFR in the intervention group.
According to the results of this study, effects of the e-learning educational intervention on improvement in kidney function and CKD treatment were established.
慢性肾脏病(CKD)是一个具有挑战性的健康问题。本研究探讨了通过电子学习进行自我护理教育对改善CKD患者肾功能的影响。
研究人群包括在德黑兰10个非传染性疾病治疗中心接受治疗的CKD患者。随机选择3个中心,纳入肾小球滤过率(GFR)低于60 mL/min/1.73 m²、最低教育程度为九年级、转诊至少2年且个人或一级亲属具备计算机操作能力的39例患者,同时将92例患者分配到对照组。对干预组患者进行电子学习项目6个月后,比较两组GFR的变化。
电子学习干预后,干预组GFR的平均变化为7.5±8.9 mL/min/1.73 m²,而对照组为-2.3±8.5 mL/min/1.73 m²。两组在年龄、婚姻状况、教育水平、平均动脉压和血清高密度脂蛋白水平方面也存在显著差异,因此,在分析中纳入这些因素对GFR进行多变量比较,结果显示干预组GFR有显著改善。
根据本研究结果,证实了电子学习教育干预对改善肾功能和CKD治疗的效果。
