Abstract

The effect of cyclic AMP on the beat frequency of the lateral cilia on the gill of Mytilus edulis was investigated. Dibutyryl cyclic AMP (0.1 mM) weakly stimulated the cilia to beat. The activation was augmented by 1 mM theophylline. The cilia were hardly activated by cyclic AMP (0.1 mM) but a strong activation was observed when it was applied with saponin (0.0025-0.01% w/v) and theophylline (1 mM). The results suggest that cyclic AMP is involved in the mechanism of ciliary activation by 5-hydroxytryptamine.

研究了环磷酸腺苷(cAMP)对紫贻贝鳃外侧纤毛搏动频率的影响。二丁酰环磷酸腺苷(0.1 mM)对纤毛搏动有微弱刺激作用。1 mM茶碱可增强这种激活作用。环磷酸腺苷(0.1 mM)几乎不能激活纤毛,但当它与皂苷(0.0025 - 0.01% w/v)和茶碱(1 mM)一起应用时,可观察到强烈的激活作用。结果表明,环磷酸腺苷参与了5 - 羟色胺激活纤毛的机制。
