The clinical application of Doppler velocity measurement is reviewed as a diagnostic tool in arterial disease of the lower extremity. Emphasis is placed on the importance of quantitative evaluation of the recorded tracings. Various aspects of qualitative, semi-quantitative and quantitative evaluation are discussed. Included are also some more special applications as pedal arch examination, profunda femoris and penile arteries velocity evaluation.
