The effects of reflexology on anxiety and pain in patients after abdominal hysterectomy: A randomised controlled trial.

OBJECTIVES
This study aimed at finding out the effects of reflexology on pain, anxiety levels after abdominal hysterectomy.
DESING & METHODS: The study was performed on women hospitalized in the intensive care unit and gynecology services of Ege University Hospital in İzmir after abdominal hysterectomy between September 2013 and September 2014. This study was designed and conducted as a randomized controlled trial. The study sample consisted of 63 female patients: 32 in the experimental group and 31 in the control group. The postoperative daily monitoring sheet, Spielberger State Anxiety Inventory (SAI), was employed to collect research data and "visual analog scale" to evaluate pain levels.
RESULTS
The female patients' average age was found to be 47.23 ± 4.71. The three-day monitoring showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of average pain levels and anxiety scores after reflexology (p < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Foot reflexology may serve as an effective nursing intervention to increase the well-being and decrease the pain of female patients after abdominal hysterectomy, and nurses should be aware of the benefits of reflexology.
目的
本研究旨在探讨足部反射疗法对腹部子宫切除术后疼痛和焦虑水平的影响。
设计与方法
该研究于 2013 年 9 月至 2014 年 9 月在伊兹密尔 Ege 大学医院的重症监护病房和妇科进行，研究对象为腹部子宫切除术后住院的女性。本研究采用随机对照试验设计。研究样本由 63 名女性患者组成：实验组 32 名，对照组 31 名。采用术后每日监测表、斯皮尔伯格状态焦虑量表（SAI）收集研究数据，采用“视觉模拟量表”评估疼痛程度。
结果
女性患者的平均年龄为 47.23±4.71 岁。三天的监测显示，实验组和对照组在足部反射疗法后平均疼痛水平和焦虑评分方面存在显著差异（p<0.05）。
结论
足部反射疗法可能是一种有效的护理干预措施，可以增加腹部子宫切除术后女性患者的幸福感，减轻疼痛，护士应该意识到反射疗法的好处。
