This study aimed to explore the influence of nurse work environment and patient safety culture in hospital on instances of missed nursing care in South Korea.
A cross-sectional design was used, in which a structured questionnaire was administered to 186 nurses working at a tertiary university hospital. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test or ANOVA, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis.
Missed nursing care was found to be correlated with clinical career, nursing work environment and patient safety culture. The regression model explained approximately 30.3 % of missed nursing care. Meanwhile, staffing and resource adequacy (β = -.31, p = .001), nurse manager ability, leadership and support of nurses (β = -.26, p = .004), clinical career (β = -.21, p = .004), and perception on patient safety culture within unit (β = -.19, p = .041) were determined to be influencing factors on missed nursing care.
This study has significance as it suggested that missed nursing care is affected by work environment factors within unit. This means that missed nursing care is a unit outcome affected by nurse work environment factors and patient safety culture. Therefore, missed nursing care can be managed through the implementation of interventions that promote a positive nursing work environment and patient safety culture.
本研究旨在探讨韩国医院护士工作环境和患者安全文化对护理缺失情况的影响。
采用横断面设计，对一家三级大学医院的186名护士进行结构化问卷调查。数据采用描述性统计、t检验或方差分析、Pearson相关性分析和多元回归分析。
发现护理缺失与临床工作年限、护理工作环境和患者安全文化相关。回归模型解释了约30.3%的护理缺失情况。同时，人员配备和资源充足性（β = -0.31，p = 0.001）、护士管理者能力、对护士的领导和支持（β = -0.26，p = 0.004）、临床工作年限（β = -0.21，p = 0.004）以及对科室患者安全文化的认知（β = -0.19，p = 0.041）被确定为护理缺失的影响因素。
本研究具有重要意义，因为它表明护理缺失受科室工作环境因素影响。这意味着护理缺失是受护士工作环境因素和患者安全文化影响的科室结果。因此，可通过实施促进积极护理工作环境和患者安全文化的干预措施来管理护理缺失情况。
