Abstract

BACKGROUND

One of the main challenges of nursing student education is the lack of clinical competence that reduces the quality of patients care. Measuring the clinical competency of undergraduate nursing students is effective in curriculum developing, planning, and learning evaluation.

OBJECTIVE

To validate self-assessment clinical competence questionnaire of undergraduate nursing students.

METHODS

This was a cross-sectional study at Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran, 2015-2016. The original version of the self-assessment questionnaire for baccalaureate nursing graduates was translated to Persian by the World Health Organization's (WHO) method. The psychometric evaluation of the questionnaire was conducted on 300 nursing students. The participants were selected by convenience sampling. The tool validity was confirmed by exploratory factor analyses. The reliability was investigated by internal consistency and test-retest.

RESULTS

Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.96 (0.82-0.91). Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was 0.98 (0.88-0.99). Five factors were extracted by analysis of clinical competency tool of undergraduate nursing students. The factors included technical competence, advanced competence, ethical competence, care management and safety competence.

CONCLUSIONS

The Persian version of the clinical competence assessment tool has acceptable psychometric characteristics in the Iranian nursing students' community. This questionnaire can be used as a valid tool in planning and research management areas.

背景

护理专业学生教育的主要挑战之一是缺乏临床能力,这降低了患者护理质量。评估本科护理专业学生的临床能力对课程开发、规划和学习评估有效。

目的

验证本科护理专业学生自我评估临床能力问卷。

方法

这是一项于2015 - 2016年在伊朗德黑兰的巴奇亚塔拉医科大学进行的横断面研究。本科护理专业毕业生自我评估问卷的原始版本通过世界卫生组织(WHO)的方法翻译成波斯语。对300名护理专业学生进行了问卷的心理测量学评估。参与者通过便利抽样选取。通过探索性因素分析确认工具的有效性。通过内部一致性和重测法调查可靠性。

结果

克朗巴哈α系数为0.96(0.82 - 0.91)。组内相关系数(ICC)为0.98(0.88 - 0.99)。通过对本科护理专业学生临床能力工具的分析提取出五个因素。这些因素包括技术能力、高级能力、道德能力、护理管理和安全能力。

结论

临床能力评估工具的波斯语版本在伊朗护理专业学生群体中具有可接受的心理测量学特征。该问卷可作为规划和研究管理领域的有效工具。
