Abstract

The present study aims to synthesized biomaterial that has antibacterial properties. Currently the surgical implants associated infections are a major cause of implant failure. Synthesis of silver doped hydroxyapatite as an antibacterial agent has potential importance to overcome post-surgical infections in a variety of clinical applications. Five silver doped hydroxyapatite CaAg(PO)(OH) (x = 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 M) samples were synthesized by precipitation method and sintered at 900 °C to obtain well crystallized structure. No minor phase developed with silver addition, hexagonal hydroxyapatite (JCPDS# 09-432) was the single phase identified in all silver doped hydroxyapatite samples. The lattice parameter a and c changed with increase in silver concentration. The results of in vitro bioactivity revealed the bone bonding ability of silver doped hydroxyapatite samples. The antibacterial test showed that silver doped hydroxyapatite was sensitive to Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Addition of silver significantly (P < 0.005) increased the antibacterial activity.

本研究旨在合成具有抗菌性能的生物材料。目前,与外科植入物相关的感染是导致植入物失败的主要原因。合成银掺杂羟基磷灰石作为一种抗菌剂,对于克服各种临床应用中手术后的感染具有潜在的重要意义。通过沉淀法合成了 5 种银掺杂羟基磷灰石 CaAg(PO)(OH)(x=0、0.1、0.3、0.5、0.7 M)样品,并在 900°C 下烧结以获得结晶良好的结构。随着银的加入,没有形成次要相,所有银掺杂羟基磷灰石样品中均鉴定出单一相六方羟基磷灰石(JCPDS#09-432)。晶格参数 a 和 c 随银浓度的增加而变化。体外生物活性结果表明银掺杂羟基磷灰石样品具有骨结合能力。抗菌试验表明,银掺杂羟基磷灰石对金黄色葡萄球菌敏感。银的添加显著(P<0.005)提高了抗菌活性。
