The Pentax-AWS is a newly developed rigid video laryngoscope. In comparison to the Macintosh laryngoscope, it offers a significantly improved laryngeal view and facilitates endotracheal intubation. The present study was performed to compare the general efficiency and the cardiovascular responses generated by Macintosh and Pentax-AWS systems during endotracheal intubation.
This study included 120 patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status class 1 or 2 requiring tracheal intubation for elective surgery. All patients were randomly allocated into two groups: Pentax-AWS (group P) and Macintosh (group M). Induction of anesthesia was performed using fentanyl, thiopental and succinylcholine intravenously. Systolic, mean and diastolic blood pressure (SBP, MBP, DBP) and heart rate (HR) were recorded just prior to induction, 1, 3, and 5 minutes after intubation.
There were no significant differences in SBP, MBP, DBP and HR between both groups. However, group P showed a higher POGO (Percentage of Glottic Opening) score than group M during endotracheal intubation.
Use of Pentax-AWS in endotracheal intubation did not increase hemodynamic changes compared to the use of Macintosh laryngoscope. Furthermore, Pentax-AWS offered an improved laryngeal view during endotracheal intubation.
宾得AWS是一种新开发的硬质可视喉镜。与麦金托什喉镜相比,它能显著改善喉镜视野并便于气管插管。本研究旨在比较麦金托什喉镜和宾得AWS系统在气管插管过程中的总体效率及心血管反应。
本研究纳入120例美国麻醉医师协会(ASA)身体状况分级为1或2级、需行择期手术气管插管的患者。所有患者随机分为两组:宾得AWS组(P组)和麦金托什组(M组)。静脉注射芬太尼、硫喷妥钠和琥珀酰胆碱进行麻醉诱导。在诱导前、插管后1、3和5分钟记录收缩压、平均动脉压、舒张压(SBP、MBP、DBP)和心率(HR)。
两组间SBP、MBP、DBP和HR无显著差异。然而,在气管插管过程中,P组的声门开口百分比(POGO)评分高于M组。
与使用麦金托什喉镜相比,在气管插管中使用宾得AWS不会增加血流动力学变化。此外,宾得AWS在气管插管过程中能提供更好的喉镜视野。
