Escherichia coli species producing verotoxin was not isolated from the stool and the verotoxin was not demonstrated in the renal biopsy. The patient recovered with supportive dialysis. The clinical features of 66 cases of postpartum haemolytic uraemic syndrome reported in the literature are reviewed.
