Abstract

OBJECTIVES

Aim of our study was to assess the expression of salivary Interleukin 1-beta (IL-1β) and clinical periodontal parameters in users and non-users (controls).

METHODS

Eighty four individuals (forty-two users and forty-two controls) were included in the study which was conducted between August 2017 and May 2018. Salivary IL-1β levels, plaque index (PI), bleeding on probing (BOP), probing depth (PD) and clinical attachment loss (CAL) was assessed in all the participants.

RESULTS

PD of 4mm (p<0.05), PD of 5-6mm (p<0.05), CAL (p<0.001) and levels of salivary IL-1β (p<0.05) were significantly higher among users as compared to controls while PI, BOP and number of missing teeth showed no significant difference among the two groups (p>0.05).

CONCLUSION

Periodontal inflammatory conditions were worse and salivary IL-1β levels were elevated in users as compared to controls.

目的

本研究旨在评估使用者和非使用者(对照组)唾液白细胞介素1β(IL-1β)的表达及临床牙周参数。

方法

本研究纳入了84名个体(42名使用者和42名对照组),研究于2017年8月至2018年5月进行。对所有参与者评估唾液IL-1β水平、菌斑指数(PI)、探诊出血(BOP)、探诊深度(PD)和临床附着丧失(CAL)。

结果

与对照组相比,使用者中4mm的PD(p<0.05)、5 - 6mm的PD(p<0.05)、CAL(p<0.001)和唾液IL-1β水平(p<0.05)显著更高,而PI、BOP和缺失牙数量在两组之间无显著差异(p>0.05)。

结论

与对照组相比,使用者的牙周炎症状况更差,唾液IL-1β水平升高。
