Abstract
RECOMMENDATION
In the absence of evidence, we recommend that ankle joint aspiration to evaluate for periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) be performed under sterile conditions via the anteromedial approach. Ultrasound guidance may be used if available but is not necessary to obtain an acceptable synovial fluid sample.
