Small nucleolar RNAs (SnoRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs divided into two classes: C/D box snoRNAs and H/ACA box snoRNAs. The canonical function of C/D box and H/ACA box snoRNAs are 2'--ribose methylation and pseudouridylation of ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs), respectively. Emerging evidence has demonstrated that snoRNAs are involved in various physiological and pathological cellular processes. Mutations and aberrant expression of snoRNAs have been reported in cell transformation, tumorigenesis, and metastasis, indicating that snoRNAs may serve as biomarkers and/or therapeutic targets of cancer. Hence, further study of the functions and underlying mechanism of snoRNAs is valuable. In this review, we summarize the biogenesis and functions of snoRNAs, as well as the association of snoRNAs in different types of cancers and their potential roles in cancer diagnosis and therapy.
小核仁RNA(SnoRNAs)是一类非编码RNA,分为两类:C/D盒小核仁RNA和H/ACA盒小核仁RNA。C/D盒和H/ACA盒小核仁RNA的典型功能分别是核糖体RNA(rRNAs)的2'-核糖甲基化和假尿苷化。新出现的证据表明,小核仁RNA参与各种细胞生理和病理过程。小核仁RNA的突变和异常表达已在细胞转化、肿瘤发生和转移中被报道,这表明小核仁RNA可能作为癌症的生物标志物和/或治疗靶点。因此,进一步研究小核仁RNA的功能及其潜在机制具有重要价值。在这篇综述中,我们总结了小核仁RNA的生物合成和功能,以及小核仁RNA在不同类型癌症中的关联及其在癌症诊断和治疗中的潜在作用。
