Elderly people are a vulnerable group of society. Today, health authorities of the country pay a great deal of attention to the issue of aging. Given the fact that nurses are have direct contact with patients referring to health centers, it is necessary to develop a comprehensive and practical training program for future nurses. This can help provide adequate care for the elderly. The present study aimed to investigate the efficacy of nursing students' undergraduate curriculum on the elderly health problems via Delphi's method.
This futuristic study was carried out at Iran Medical Sciences Universities between December 2016 and November 2017. The research sample consisted of 63 faculty members and non-faculty members who were randomly selected. The final document and data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and SPSS (version 24) were used to analyze the data.
In the first step, according to 70 percent of participants, the allocated time on providing "Elderly Care" content, as well as providing actual content by the professors of each credit is not sufficient. The findings of the second step revealed that 79 percent of participants indicated, adding the topic of "Elderly Care" to the mentioned syllabus, greatly contributes to improving the capabilities of graduates.
The studies suggest that the curriculums of "Bachelor of Nursing" (BN) does not have an operational approach toward the problems of elderly period, and the necessity of some variations, such as increasing the number of credits and allocating distinct syllabus to the topic of aging, employing the faculty member in the major specialties of elderly, and involving them in teaching, seems critical.
老年人是社会中的弱势群体。如今,该国卫生当局高度关注老龄化问题。鉴于护士与前往健康中心就诊的患者有直接接触,有必要为未来的护士制定一个全面且实用的培训项目。这有助于为老年人提供充分的护理。本研究旨在通过德尔菲法调查护理专业本科生课程对老年人健康问题的效果。
这项前瞻性研究于2016年12月至2017年11月在伊朗医科大学开展。研究样本由63名随机挑选的教职员工和非教职员工组成。最终文件和数据通过研究者自制的问卷收集。使用描述性统计和SPSS(版本24)对数据进行分析。
在第一步中,70%的参与者认为,在提供“老年护理”内容方面所分配的时间以及每位授课教师所提供的实际内容都不足。第二步的结果显示,79%的参与者表示,在上述教学大纲中增加“老年护理”主题,对提高毕业生的能力有很大帮助。
研究表明,“护理学学士”(BN)课程对老年期问题没有操作性的方法,进行一些调整似乎至关重要,比如增加学分数量、为老龄化主题分配单独的教学大纲、聘请老年专业领域的教职员工并让他们参与教学。
