Mental health-related stigma is a global concern that adversely influences the lives of people with mental illness. It also has a negative impact on help-seeking intentions and behaviors in the early phase of mental illness. Because the clinical onset of mental illnesses often occurs during childhood and adolescence, a major target group in anti-stigma efforts is university students, who often have stigmatized perceptions of individuals with mental illness. Previous studies have consistently found insufficient evidence on the long-term effects of one-time anti-stigma interventions, suggesting that that more systematic and longitudinal anti-stigma interventions should be developed. Pescosolido et al. addressed these problems by developing a novel pilot program called U(niversity) Bring Change to Mind (UBC2M) and evaluated it through the accompanying College Toolbox Project (CTP)..
