: The aim of this study was to investigate whether trunk control is associated with the upper limb function of children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).: The children included in the study were divided into two groups according to the Trunk Control Measurement Scale total scores. Twenty-five children whose trunk control levels were lower than 30.5 points were included in Group 1 while 31 children who had good levels of trunk control between 30.5 and 58 points were included in Group 2. General functional levels, muscular strength, and function of the upper limb were assessed and compared between the groups.: According to the results of the assessments, children in Group 2 were found to have better upper limb function and muscular strength than Group 1 ( < .001).: The current study demonstrated better upper limb functional performance of children with DMD that had good-level trunk control thus suggesting the possible association between trunk stability and upper limb function. The results reveal the need to improve and protect trunk muscle strength and stability as well as upper limb strength, and to optimize trunk stability during upper limb movement in rehabilitation programs.
本研究旨在探讨躯干控制是否与杜氏肌营养不良症(DMD)患儿的上肢功能有关。
研究纳入的患儿根据躯干控制测量量表总分分为两组。25 名躯干控制水平低于 30.5 分的患儿归入组 1,31 名躯干控制水平在 30.5 至 58 分之间的患儿归入组 2。对两组患儿的一般功能水平、肌肉力量和上肢功能进行评估和比较。
根据评估结果,组 2 患儿的上肢功能和肌肉力量明显优于组 1(<0.001)。
本研究表明,躯干控制水平良好的 DMD 患儿上肢功能表现更好,提示躯干稳定性与上肢功能之间可能存在关联。结果表明,在康复计划中,需要加强和保护躯干肌肉力量和稳定性,以及上肢力量,优化上肢运动中的躯干稳定性。
