The cough reflex was studied in 91 patients classified into two groups: 54 patients with somatic pulmonary disease and marked bronchial hyperreactivity and 37 patients without bronchial hyperreactivity, some of the threatened with bronchial asthma, others with neurotic functional disorders only. The study shows that the stimulated cough reflex could be objectified in the patients, in the patients threatened with bronchial asthma and in some patients with functional disorders linked with neurosis.
