Limited data exist on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and suicide attempts among psychiatric patients in Korea. In this study, we investigated the clinical characteristics of patients who engaged in NSSI and/or suicide attempts.
We performed a retrospective medical chart review of patients with NSSI and/or suicide attempts at the psychiatric department of a university medical center in Seoul between 2017 and 2019. According to their history, patients were allocated to one of three groups: NSSI only, suicide attempts only and NSSI and suicide attempts group. Groups were compared based on sociodemographic characteristics and psychological assessments.
Overall, 80 patients with NSSI and/or suicide attempts were evaluated. Patients with NSSI and suicide attempts were more likely to be female than the other two groups. Patients with NSSI and suicide attempts were more likely to suffer from Cluster B personality disorder than the other groups. And patients with NSSI and suicide attempts scored significantly higher on novelty-seeking in TCI and RC8, RC9 in MMPI-2.
Patients with NSSI and/or suicide attempts were more likely to be female, younger, and showed higher levels of psychological disturbances. These findings highlight the importance of early detection and intervention for patients with NSSI.
关于韩国精神病患者非自杀性自伤（NSSI）和自杀未遂的数据有限。在本研究中，我们调查了有NSSI和/或自杀未遂行为患者的临床特征。
我们对2017年至2019年期间首尔一所大学医学中心精神科有NSSI和/或自杀未遂行为的患者进行了回顾性病历审查。根据他们的病史，患者被分为三组之一：仅NSSI组、仅自杀未遂组和NSSI与自杀未遂组。基于社会人口学特征和心理评估对各组进行比较。
总体而言，对80例有NSSI和/或自杀未遂行为的患者进行了评估。与其他两组相比，有NSSI和自杀未遂行为的患者女性居多。与其他组相比，有NSSI和自杀未遂行为的患者更易患B类人格障碍。并且有NSSI和自杀未遂行为的患者在TCI中的寻求新奇得分以及MMPI-2中的RC8、RC9得分显著更高。
有NSSI和/或自杀未遂行为的患者更可能为女性、更年轻，且心理障碍水平更高。这些发现凸显了对NSSI患者进行早期检测和干预的重要性。
