Diabetes, hypoglycemia and driving instructions in Switzerland Many individuals with diabetes participate in road traffic in a regular and safe manner. Studies suggest that type 1 diabetes leads to more traffic accidents. Hypoglycemia is a risk factor for driving mishaps. Therefore, patients with diabetes medication, which can cause hypoglycemia, have to be informed and adhere to the guidelines regarding suitability for driving. These guidelines are summarized in this review.
