The European Commission has asked EU Member States for comments on a French law notification demanding plant varieties produced with the help of mutagenesis have to be eliminated from the national catalog of approved varieties because of missing legal authorization deemed required by genetic engineering law. Primary target are herbicide-tolerant Clearfield oilseed rape varieties. The scientific reasoning is questionable, traceability is illusive, and law enforcement is likely to be impossible.
欧盟委员会已就一项法国法律通知征求欧盟成员国的意见，该通知要求因缺少基因工程法规定的必要法律授权，必须从国家批准品种目录中剔除借助诱变技术培育的植物品种。主要目标是耐除草剂的“清田”油菜品种。其科学依据存疑，可追溯性难以捉摸，执法也可能无法实现。
