Abstract

Epididymal obstruction can occur from a variety of causes. Over the past decade, new techniques for bypassing the obstruction have been described and appear to have improved both patency and pregnancy rates. These microsurgical methods are quite tedious to perform, and a good deal of laboratory and clinical experience is necessary in order to achieve the best results. The level at which the epididymis is obstructed plays a crucial role with regard to sperm maturation and the potential for fertilization.
