OBJECTIVE
To provide some epidemiological data on infection rates in paediatric patients at a single centre in Wuxi, China.
METHODS
This was a retrospective analysis of serum samples from paediatric patients (<12 years) with a respiratory tract infection (RTI) and who had been admitted to the Department of Paediatrics, Wuxi No.2 People's Hospital, China, from 01 January 2015 to 31 December 2016. IgM antibodies had been analysed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
RESULTS
Of the 3866 children (2073 boys, 1793 girls) with a RTI that provided serum samples, 19% were positive for IgM antibodies. Among these children, 56% were positive for other infections.
CONCLUSIONS
Children over 6 years of age with a RTI had a higher infection rate than younger children and the infection rate was more common in winter months compared with other times of the year.

提供中国无锡某单一中心儿科患者 感染率的一些流行病学数据。
方法
这是对 2015 年 1 月 1 日至 2016 年 12 月 31 日期间因呼吸道感染（RTI）入住中国无锡市第二人民医院儿科的<12 岁儿科患者血清样本进行的回顾性分析。采用酶联免疫吸附试验（ELISA）检测 IgM 抗体。
结果
3866 例（男 2073 例，女 1793 例）有 RTI 并提供血清样本的儿童中，19%的儿童 IgM 抗体阳性。这些儿童中，56%的儿童合并其他感染。
结论
患有 RTI 的 6 岁以上儿童比年龄较小的儿童的 感染率更高，且感染率在冬季月份比其他季节更为常见。
