Hydroperoxides derived from phospholipids of biological source could be analyzed quantitatively by using reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The combination of reverse phase HPLC and normal phase HPLC, which is used for the separation of lipid classes, seems to be a powerful technique for the determination of peroxidized phospholipids in food and biological systems. The development of the detector specific to the hydroperoxy group is desired for increasing the effectiveness of this method.
