Immune complexes in the rheumatic diseases.

This article reviews the intrinsic characteristics of immune complexes important in determining tissue deposition and the properties of the two arms of receptor-mediated handling of immune complexes in the circulation. The interrelationships between complement receptor (CRl) and Fc receptor mechanisms, including abnormalities found in rheumatic diseases, are discussed as contributing factors to immune complex disease pathogenesis.
