Abstract
Pseudomonas putida MT20-3 carrying the Klebsiella pneumoniae nif plasmids pRD1 or pMF250 showed highly O2-sensitive aerobic acetylene reduction on low-N pyruvate or glucose agar. This finding confirms unequivocally that K. pneumoniae nif can be expressed in an obligate aerobe.
