The dance fly belongs to the subfamily Empidinae of Empididae. The mitogenome (GenBank accession number: MK993569) of was sequenced, the new representative of the mitogenome of the subfamily. The complete mitogenome is 14,961 bp totally, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNAs, and 22 transfer RNAs. All genes have the similar locations and strands with that of other published species of Empididae. The nucleotide composition biases toward A and T, which together made up 76.3% of the entirety. Bayesian inference analysis strongly supported the monophyly of Empidoidea, Empididae, and Dolichopodidae. This result also suggested that Empidinae is the sister group to the clade of Trichopezinae.
舞虻属于舞虻科的舞虻亚科。对其线粒体基因组（GenBank登录号：MK993569）进行了测序，它是该亚科线粒体基因组的新代表。完整的线粒体基因组全长14,961 bp，由13个蛋白质编码基因、两个核糖体RNA和22个转运RNA组成。所有基因的位置和链与舞虻科其他已发表物种的相似。核苷酸组成偏向于A和T，它们总共占整体的76.3%。贝叶斯推断分析强烈支持舞虻总科、舞虻科和长足虻科的单系性。这一结果还表明舞虻亚科是毛栉虻亚科分支的姐妹群。
