Abstract
In intrafamilial sexual abuse, the mother's functioning (her dependency, relationship with the victim, and protectiveness) and the father-offender's functioning (his overall functioning, guilt about victimization, and extent of sexual abuse) can be used to make decisions about removal of children, treatment prognosis, treatment strategies, and juvenile or criminal court action. Guidelines for clinicians are presented.
