India has 40 distinct zebuine cattle breeds with different adaptability and production traits. In the present study, we report the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Indian cattle for the first time. The mitogenome contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes and a control region (D-loop region). The phylogenetic analysis showed close genetic relationship among the Indian cattle breeds studied, where as, distinct genetic differences were observed between and cattle. Our results will expand genomic information for further studies on evolution, domestication and conservation of indigenous cattle breeds in India.
印度有40个不同的瘤牛品种,具有不同的适应性和生产性状。在本研究中,我们首次报告了印度牛完整的线粒体基因组序列。线粒体基因组包含13个蛋白质编码基因、22个转运RNA基因、两个核糖体RNA基因和一个控制区(D-loop区)。系统发育分析表明,所研究的印度牛品种之间存在密切的遗传关系,而印度牛与其他牛种之间存在明显的遗传差异。我们的结果将扩展基因组信息,以进一步研究印度本土牛品种的进化、驯化和保护。
