Abstract

At present, two types of fattening are carried out in Iberian traditional pig production. The is the fattening system where fatteners are fed on acorns and pasture in the , and is the fattening where the pigs are fed on compound feed and natural resources, mainly pasture. The aim of this paper is to analyze Iberian fattening production from an economic and environmental approach in order to identify fattening strategies to increase the sustainability of this traditional livestock activity. Based on technical-economic and environmental variables, the differences between Iberian farms according to the types of fattening were determined using discriminant analysis techniques. The model based on environmental variables showed a greater predictive ability than that found in the model based on technical-economic variables. Consequently, environmental variables can be used as reference points to classify the Iberian farms according to the type of fattening. Furthermore, canonical correlation analysis allowed to study the relationships between both sets of variables, showing that environmental values had a strong correlation with technical-economic variables. The results of this study show that it is possible to improve the sustainability of Iberian traditional pig production through fattening strategies in both types of fattening.

摘要

目前,伊比利亚传统养猪生产中有两种育肥方式。一种是育肥系统,育肥猪在[具体地点]以橡子和牧草为食;另一种是育肥方式,猪以复合饲料和自然资源(主要是牧草)为食。本文旨在从经济和环境角度分析伊比利亚育肥生产,以确定提高这种传统畜牧活动可持续性的育肥策略。基于技术经济和环境变量,使用判别分析技术确定了不同育肥类型的伊比利亚农场之间的差异。基于环境变量的模型比基于技术经济变量的模型具有更强的预测能力。因此,环境变量可作为参考点,根据育肥类型对伊比利亚农场进行分类。此外,典型相关分析有助于研究两组变量之间的关系,结果表明环境值与技术经济变量密切相关。本研究结果表明,通过两种育肥方式的育肥策略都有可能提高伊比利亚传统养猪生产的可持续性。
