Low vision and the elderly patient.

This paper describes special considerations and approaches that are necessary in optometric care of the elderly patient with low vision. Emphasis is placed on case history and presentation of treatment recommendations. Procedures for the systematic assessment of vision are described and there is a discussion of the kinds of low vision aids most commonly prescribed for the elderly.
