Abstract
This paper reviews the results of clinical trials with omeprazole, including UK and Scandinavian multicentre trials. The effect of omeprazole on ulcer healing and symptom relief has been of a magnitude never seen before. The action of the drug has also been so rapid and pronounced that it has not yet been possible to determine the lowest dose which should be recommended to achieve an optimal effect.
