Abstract

Interchange between ventilatory and spontaneously breathing modes using a Bain system and a Penlon Nuffield 200 ventilator may be achieved by the single action of switching the ventilator on or off. No alteration is made to the expiratory valve, reservoir bag, ventilator tubing or scavenging system and there are no levers.
