This article describes a specific strategy for family intervention that can be used by any clinician, including the neurologist. The techniques do not require an extensive commitment of time and can be shared by members of the treatment team. The physician is in contact with the family early in the course of treatment and is therefore uniquely positioned to initiate a therapeutic program that can be carried out by other members of the treatment team.
