A case of malignant amelanotic melanoma of the uterine cervix in a patient presenting with right hemiparesis and enlarged lymph nodes was diagnosed in Papanicolaou-stained cervical smears showing many melanoma cells. Melanoma cells with bizzare nuclear and cytoplasmic abnormalities, rarely seen in other tumors, helped to establish a positive diagnosis. The diagnosis was confirmed by histopathologic study of the endocervical surgical specimen, including a positive immunoperoxidase staining for S-100 protein.
