Bioinorganic chemistry. Inorganic chemistry in a perspective of biology, medicine and the environment.

A brief overview of recent developments in the area of bioinorganic chemistry is presented. After a description of the field and the relationships with other disciplines, a short presentation of the historical developments in the field are discussed. The main part of the paper deals with a discussion of the current highlights and the applications of bioinorganic principles in other fields. At the end an expectation is presented of future developments.
