Abstract

BACKGROUND/AIM: Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease which is common in many areas of the world including Egypt. A lot of controversy regarding the pathogenesis of UC exist. The current study is an attempt to detect some pathogenic bacteria in UC patients.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Endoscopic colonic biopsies obtained from 40 patients with ulcerative colitis and 20 controls were analyzed by means of real-time PCR technique for the presence of () and pathogenic ( which are positive for KPC and/or OXA-48.

RESULTS

All patients and control samples were negative for . Three of the 40 patient samples (7.5%) and none of the 20 controls were positive for with no significant difference between the two groups. KPC-positive were detected in 11 of the 40 patients (27.5%) and in none of the controls with a significant difference between the two groups (P=0.01). All patients and control samples were negative for OXA-48 positive E. coli.

CONCLUSION

Although this study does not support the claim that and/or have a role in UC, it greatly suggests that pathogenic may be involved in one way or another in the course of UC.

摘要

背景/目的:溃疡性结肠炎(UC)是一种炎症性肠病,在世界许多地区都很常见,包括埃及。UC 的发病机制存在很多争议。本研究试图检测 UC 患者体内的一些致病菌。

材料和方法

通过实时 PCR 技术,对 40 例溃疡性结肠炎患者和 20 例对照者的结肠镜活检组织进行分析,检测是否存在()和致病性()。(为阳性的产碳青霉烯酶肠杆菌科细菌和/或产 OXA-48 肠杆菌科细菌)

结果

所有患者和对照样本均为阴性。40 例患者样本中有 3 例(7.5%)为阳性,20 例对照者样本均为阴性,两组间无显著差异。在 40 例患者中有 11 例(27.5%)检测到 KPC 阳性的产碳青霉烯酶肠杆菌科细菌,而对照组中均为阴性,两组间差异有统计学意义(P=0.01)。所有患者和对照样本均为阴性,未检测到产 OXA-48 阳性的大肠埃希菌。

结论

尽管本研究不支持 和/或 在 UC 中起作用的说法,但强烈提示致病性 可能以某种方式参与 UC 的发生发展过程。
