Abstract

The common bean ( L.) is the most important grain legume in the human diet, mainly in Africa and Latin America. Argentina is one of the five major producers of the common bean in the world, and the main cultivation areas are concentrated in the northwestern provinces of this country. Crop production of the common bean is often affected by biotic factors like some endemic fungal diseases, which exert a major economic impact on the region. The most important fungal diseases affecting the common bean in Argentina are white mold caused by , angular leaf spot caused by , web blight and root rot caused by , which can cause production losses of up to 100% in the region. At the present, the most effective strategy for controlling these diseases is the use of genetic resistance. In this sense, population study and characterization of fungal pathogens are essential for developing cultivars with durable resistance. In this review we report diversity studies carried out on these three fungal pathogens affecting the common bean in northwestern Argentina, analyzing more than 200 isolates by means of molecular, morphological and pathogenic approaches. Also, the screening of physiological resistance in several common bean commercial lines and wild native germplasm is reviewed. This review contributes to the development of sustainable management strategies and cultural practices in bean production aimed to minimize yield losses due to fungal diseases in the common bean.

普通菜豆(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)是人类饮食中最重要的食用豆类,主要分布在非洲和拉丁美洲。阿根廷是世界上普通菜豆的五大主要生产国之一,其主要种植区集中在该国西北部省份。普通菜豆的作物生产常常受到一些地方性真菌病害等生物因素的影响,这些病害对该地区造成了重大经济影响。在阿根廷,影响普通菜豆的最重要真菌病害有由[病原菌名称1]引起的白霉病、由[病原菌名称2]引起的角斑病、由[病原菌名称3]引起的网斑病和根腐病,这些病害在该地区可导致高达100%的产量损失。目前,控制这些病害最有效的策略是利用遗传抗性。从这个意义上讲,对真菌病原体进行群体研究和特征描述对于培育具有持久抗性的品种至关重要。在本综述中,我们报告了对阿根廷西北部影响普通菜豆的这三种真菌病原体所开展的多样性研究,通过分子、形态学和致病性方法分析了200多个分离株。此外,还综述了对几种普通菜豆商业品系和野生本地种质的生理抗性筛选。本综述有助于制定豆类生产中的可持续管理策略和栽培措施,旨在尽量减少普通菜豆因真菌病害造成的产量损失。
