Acupuncture has been increasingly used in patients with chronic pain, yet no bibliometric analysis of acupuncture studies for chronic pain exists.
To investigate the characteristics, hotspots and frontiers of global scientific output in acupuncture research for chronic pain over the past decade.
We retrieved publications on acupuncture for chronic pain published from 2011 to 2022 from the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-expanded) of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). The co-occurrence relationships of journals/countries/institutions/authors/keywords were performed using VOSviewer V6.1.2, and CiteSpace V1.6.18 analyzed the clustering and burst analysis of keywords and co-cited references.
A total of 1616 articles were retrieved. The results showed that the number of annual publications on acupuncture for chronic pain has increased over time, with the main types of literature being original articles (1091 articles, 67.5 %) and review articles (351 articles, 21.7 %). China had the most publications (598 articles, 37 %), with Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (93 articles, 5.8 %) and Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine ranked first (169 articles, 10.45 %) as the most prolific affiliate and journal, respectively. Liang FR was the most productive author (43 articles), and the article published by Vickers Andrew J in 2012 had the highest number of citations (625 citations). Recently, "acupuncture" and "pain" appeared most frequently. The hot topics in acupuncture for chronic pain based on keywords clustering analysis were experimental design, hot diseases, interventions, and mechanism studies. According to burst analysis, the main research frontiers were functional connectivity (FC), depression, and risk.
This study provides an in-depth perspective on acupuncture for chronic pain studies, revealing pivotal points, research hotspots, and research trends. Valuable ideas are provided for future research activities.
针灸在慢性疼痛患者中的应用日益增多，但目前尚无针灸治疗慢性疼痛的文献计量分析。
探讨过去十年全球针灸治疗慢性疼痛研究的特点、热点和前沿。
我们从 Web of Science 核心合集（WoSCC）的科学引文索引扩展版（SCI-expanded）中检索了 2011 年至 2022 年发表的针灸治疗慢性疼痛的文献。使用 VOSviewer V6.1.2 分析期刊/国家/机构/作者/关键词的共现关系，使用 CiteSpace V1.6.18 分析关键词和共引参考文献的聚类和突现分析。
共检索到 1616 篇文章。结果表明，针灸治疗慢性疼痛的年发文量呈逐年增加趋势，主要文献类型为原始文章（1091 篇，67.5%）和综述文章（351 篇，21.7%）。中国发文量最多（598 篇，37%），北京中医药大学（93 篇，5.8%）和循证补充与替代医学（169 篇，10.45%）分别是最具影响力的机构和期刊。梁繁荣（Liang FR）发文量最多（43 篇），Andrew J Vickers 于 2012 年发表的文章被引频次最高（625 次）。最近，“针灸”和“疼痛”出现的频率最高。基于关键词聚类分析的针灸治疗慢性疼痛热点主题是实验设计、热门疾病、干预措施和机制研究。根据突现分析，主要研究前沿是功能连接（FC）、抑郁和风险。
