A statistically significant decrease of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is seen in levamisole-treated rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. While there is a correlation between ESR decrease and clinical improvement, in a few patients ESR remains unchanged in spite of a good clinical result. A decrease of acute phase proteins and an increase in hemoglobin and hematocrit have also been reported with levamisole.
