[Epidemiological study using computerized data bases. I. The nature of veterinary observation studies].

The concept of disease causality is discussed. The investigation of cause using the three types of epidemiological observational study (cross-sectional, case-control and cohort), measures of association applied in the studies, the interpretation of results and bias, are described.
