Myxofibrosarcoma usually occurs in the extremities of middle-aged to older adults. Metastatic myxofibrosarcomas generally emerge in the lung. In this case report, we aim to present a case of primary pulmonary myxofibrosarcoma with tumor thrombus extending into the left atrium without pulmonary vein or atrial invasion.
A 55-year-old male who was being followed up due to a pulmonary nodule presented with a mass extending from the left lower lobe to the left atrium. No extrathoracic malignancy was detected in the pre-operative examination. The mass extending into the left atrium without invasion was excised with the lower lobe of the left lung. A post-operative histopathological examination revealed myxofibrosarcoma.
Very few cases of cervical, thoracic wall, mediastinum and cardiac primary myxofibrosarcoma have been documented, and to the best of our knowledge, only one primary pulmonary myxofibrosarcoma case has previously been reported in the English literature. Here, we present a case of primary pulmonary myxofibrosarcoma that extended to the left atrium through the pulmonary vein. In such rare clinical presentations, intracardiac tumor resection should precede pulmonary resection due to the possibility of catastrophic tumor embolisms.
黏液纤维肉瘤通常发生在中老年人的四肢。转移性黏液纤维肉瘤通常出现在肺部。在本病例报告中，我们旨在报告一例原发性肺黏液纤维肉瘤，肿瘤栓子延伸至左心房，无肺静脉或心房侵犯。
一名 55 岁男性，因肺部结节接受随访，出现从左下肺延伸至左心房的肿块。术前检查未发现胸外恶性肿瘤。切除了左肺下叶和肿块。术后组织病理学检查显示为黏液纤维肉瘤。
颈、胸壁、纵隔和心脏的原发性黏液纤维肉瘤非常少见，据我们所知，之前仅在英文文献中报道过一例原发性肺黏液纤维肉瘤。在这里，我们报告了一例通过肺静脉延伸至左心房的原发性肺黏液纤维肉瘤。在这种罕见的临床表现中，由于可能发生灾难性的肿瘤栓塞，应先进行心脏内肿瘤切除术，然后再进行肺切除术。
