The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of radiotherapy on flexural strength, microhardness, and surface roughness of bulk fill composite (X-tra fil) and glass ionomer (EQUIA Forte HT).
A total of 40 specimens were prepared for each test and were divided into two groups according to the material used (composite or glass ionomer cement), and each group was divided into two subgroups ( = 10) according to radiation condition, irradiated subgroup, subjected to 50 Gy by multienergy linear accelerator delivered in one shot and control subgroup.
Control samples of flexural strength and microhardness had a significantly higher value than irradiated samples in both materials. Regarding the surface roughness, irradiated samples had a significantly higher value than the control samples in both materials.
Irradiation with a linear accelerator had a negative impact on the flexural strength and microhardness of both materials. Moreover, it increased the surface roughness for both materials. Bulk fill composite is the dental restorative material of choice in head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy due to its high mechanical properties before and after radiation.

本研究旨在评估放射治疗对大块充填复合树脂(X-tra fil)和玻璃离子水门汀(EQUIA Forte HT)的抗弯强度、显微硬度和表面粗糙度的影响。
每种测试准备40个样本,根据所用材料(复合树脂或玻璃离子水门汀)分为两组,每组再根据辐射条件分为两个亚组(每组n = 10),即照射亚组,通过多能直线加速器一次性给予50 Gy照射,以及对照亚组。
两种材料中,抗弯强度和显微硬度的对照样本值均显著高于照射样本。关于表面粗糙度,两种材料中照射样本的值均显著高于对照样本。
直线加速器照射对两种材料的抗弯强度和显微硬度均有负面影响。此外,它还增加了两种材料的表面粗糙度。由于大块充填复合树脂在放疗前后具有较高的机械性能,因此是头颈部癌症放疗患者的首选牙科修复材料。
