A near-infrared fluorescent nanoprobe consisting of Nile blue-capped ZIF-90 is first proposed for real-time imaging of mitochondrial ATP. Owing to the strong binding of ATP with Zn, the structure of the probe is disrupted, leading to the release of fluorescent NB.
