Adult pure androgen-secreting adrenal tumors (PASATs) are rarely reported and the malignancy of such tumor are difficult to confirm before surgery. Here we report a PASAT demonstrating extremely F-FDG uptake turned out to benign tumor by postoperative pathology examination.
A 19-year-old adolescent found a tumor measuring 7.2 cm located in the right adrenal region on enhanced CT during the routine physical examination. Signs of virilization and elevated testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) were verified during preoperative examination. F-FDG PET/CT revealed the tumor had an extremely high F-FDG uptake with a SUVmax reaching 42.7, which turned out to be oncocytic adrenocortical adenoma by pathological examination.
F-FDG PET/CT may be limited in assessing the malignancy of PASAT.
成人纯雄激素分泌性肾上腺肿瘤(PASAT)鲜有报道,且此类肿瘤的恶性程度在术前难以确诊。在此我们报告一例PASAT,其表现为极高的氟代脱氧葡萄糖(F-FDG)摄取,术后病理检查结果显示为良性肿瘤。
一名19岁青少年在常规体检的增强CT检查中发现右肾上腺区有一个7.2厘米的肿瘤。术前检查证实有男性化体征以及睾酮和脱氢表雄酮(DHEA)升高。F-FDG PET/CT显示该肿瘤具有极高的F-FDG摄取,最大标准化摄取值(SUVmax)达到42.7,病理检查结果为嗜酸细胞性肾上腺皮质腺瘤。
F-FDG PET/CT在评估PASAT的恶性程度方面可能存在局限性。
