[Evaluation of cervix dilatation in the active phase].

This paper describes a prospective study of 50 primiparae and 50 multiparae, whose duration of cervical dilatation in the active phase has been investigated. The rate of cervical dilatation after 3 cm was found at 1.93 cm/h in primiparae and nearly one and a half times faster in multiparae. Friedman's S-shaped curve of cervical dilatation could not be confirmed.
