Abstract

The signalling effects of microbial biofilms and extracellular polysaccharides (EPS) determine the stability of microbial communities. As messenger molecules, extracellular vesicles (EVs) mediate the interactions of microbial populations by carrying cargo. Therefore, this study took biofilm and EPS as screening factors, preliminarily explored the basic characteristics of strains with strong biofilm formation ability and high EPS production. The results showed that the EVs concentration of three lactic acid bacteria (KLK29, KLH2 and KEF14) were high. The concentration of their EVs was proportional to the EPS production, indicating that EVs were directly involved in the formation and regulation of EPS, but it did not mean that EVs could directly affect other biological characteristics of the strains. This study offers crucial information about kefir-derived strains and their EVs, and provides a preliminary research basis for EVs-mediated expression of probiotic characteristics of strains in kefir.

微生物生物膜和细胞外多糖(EPS)的信号传导作用决定了微生物群落的稳定性。作为信使分子,细胞外囊泡(EVs)通过携带物质来介导微生物种群间的相互作用。因此,本研究以生物膜和EPS作为筛选因素,初步探究了具有较强生物膜形成能力和较高EPS产量的菌株的基本特性。结果表明,三种乳酸菌(KLK29、KLH2和KEF14)的EVs浓度较高。它们的EVs浓度与EPS产量成正比,表明EVs直接参与了EPS的形成和调控,但这并不意味着EVs能直接影响菌株的其他生物学特性。本研究提供了关于开菲尔衍生菌株及其EVs的关键信息,并为EVs介导开菲尔中菌株益生菌特性的表达提供了初步研究基础。
