OBJECTIVE: This study evaluates the clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided long duration, high voltage pulse radiofrequency (PRF) in managing primary glossopharyngeal neuralgia (GPN). METHODS: Clinical data were retrospectively analyzed for 13 patients with primary GPN who underwent this treatment between August 2019 and October 2022. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores were assessed pre-treatment and at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months post-treatment. Additionally, the rates of discontinuation of oral oxcarbazepine and pregabalin, efficacy, and complication rates at 6 months post-procedure were monitored. RESULTS: Significant post-treatment pain relief, was observed across all patients, with statistically significant improvements in VAS scores ( < 0.05). Discontinuation rates for oxcarbazepine and pregabalin were also high ( < 0.05). At the 6-month follow-up, 69.23% of patients achieved excellent and good efficacy, 84.61% demonstrated overall effectiveness, while 15.38% showed poor efficacy. No critical complications were reported in any case. CONCLUSION: Ultrasound-guided, long-term, high-voltage PRF effectively relieves primary glossopharyngeal neuralgia and improves quality of life. Featuring ease of operation, high safety and minimal complications making it a promising approach for clinical application.
目的:本研究评估超声引导下长时间、高电压脉冲射频(PRF)治疗原发性舌咽神经痛(GPN)的临床疗效和安全性。 方法:回顾性分析2019年8月至2022年10月期间接受该治疗的13例原发性GPN患者的临床资料。在治疗前以及治疗后1周、1个月、3个月和6个月评估视觉模拟量表(VAS)评分。此外,监测术后6个月口服奥卡西平和普瑞巴林的停药率、疗效及并发症发生率。 结果:所有患者治疗后疼痛均显著缓解,VAS评分有统计学意义的改善(<0.05)。奥卡西平和普瑞巴林的停药率也很高(<0.05)。在6个月的随访中,69.23%的患者疗效为优或良,84.61%的患者总体有效,而15.38%的患者疗效较差。所有病例均未报告严重并发症。 结论:超声引导下长期、高电压PRF能有效缓解原发性舌咽神经痛并改善生活质量。该方法操作简便、安全性高且并发症少,是一种很有前景的临床应用方法。
