Detection and management of syphilis in pregnancy.

Although uncommon, syphilis remains a serious disease, especially during pregnancy, when the outcome could be disastrous for the fetus. In spite of a commonly prevailing false sense of security, the disease is still with us and increasing in incidence in many countries.
