Patient satisfaction is an important indicator of surgical outcome, so the quality of life is crucial in a patient undergoing septorhinoplasty. In the present study, we have prospectively evaluated the quality of life concerning functional and aesthetic outcomes after septorhinoplasty.
This prospective study, included 50 patients who underwent septorhinoplasty for functional and aesthetic symptoms from March 2021 to February 2024. The quality of life concerned with functional and aesthetic outcomes were evaluated at the end of 6 and 12 months after the surgery.
There was a significant improvement in both functional (VAS, NOSE, FROI-17) and aesthetic outcome questionaries in patients undergoing septorhinoplasty (p < 0.05); there was a strong correlation between the age of the patients, the presenting complaints and functional quality of life. Again, a strong correlation was found between the complication rate and aesthetic quality of life (p < 0.05).
Although septorhinoplasty is a complex surgery, it can ensure significant improvement in the quality of life of a patient. Our study showed a strong correlation of age, presenting complaints, and complication rate with the functional and aesthetic quality of life.
