Referring to recent outbreaks of African swine fever in Belgium, a number of practical aspects of this disease are reviewed. The fact that a vaccine is not available means that general and special health measures by the government and prevention should be emphasized. Moreover a number of logical conclusions as regards to veterinary practice are discussed.
